About the Persian World
The Persian world is a term used to describe the region of the world that was historically inhabited by the Persian people. This region includes the modern-day countries of Iran, Afghanistan and Tajikistan and parts of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.
The Persian world has a long and rich history, dating back to the 3rd millennium BCE. The Persians were the first people to unite the Middle East under a single empire, and they were also the first to introduce emerging technologies and ideas that would later be adopted by other cultures.
God is at work
Persecution threatened to wipe out Iran’s tiny church. Instead, the church in Iran has become the fastest growing in the world, and it is influencing the region for Christ.
In Afghanistan, the Taliban is attempting to eradicate Christianity. Instead, though many fled the country, there has been exciting new growth across the nation.
And in tiny Tajikistan, a secular Muslim government attempts to control religious expression. Yet local believers are making disciples and new, unregistered house churches are growing.
What we Believe
We are challenged by the fact that the most basic opportunities to hear the Gospel story are unavailable to most. And so many face incredible daily life challenges too. We believe that Jesus, as the light of this world, wants to bring light and hope into challenging situations that many people face each and every day.
